Dr. Mitra joined Recon Research Corporation in 2008. Her research interests include applied microeconomics, econometrics and the application of economics to legal issues. Prior to joining Recon, Dr. Mitra was Project Director at Horizon Consumer Science in Los Angeles. Dr. Mitra founded the Claremont Women in Economics Society Today (CWEST) dedicated to supporting women pursue advanced degrees in economics and transition to careers outside academia.

Dr. Mitra received her BA in Economics and Political Science from UCLA, her MA in Politics, Economics and Business and her PhD in Economics from Claremont Graduate University. Her dissertation explored the macroeconomic impact of microcredit in West Bengal, India.

Dr. Mitra currently lives in Los Angeles and is still trying to figure out why it takes her over 30 minutes to drive 6 miles to the office.
